Materials
For the dough:
1 kg semolina
1 cup flour
250 gr margarine
Half a glass of liquid oil
1 pack of vanilla
1 packet of baking powder
1.5 cups of warm water
For the inner material
1 cup ground walnuts
15 g butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups Hurmatat dates
For the Cake Top
Powdered sugar
Preparation:
Put semolina, flour, margarine, oil, vanilla and baking powder in a bowl and whisk.
Add warm water and knead to the consistency of an earlobe.
Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Clean the Hurmatat dates , remove their seeds and slice them.
Melt the butter in a pan. Then add the Hurmatat dates and sauté.
Add walnuts and cinnamon and mix. Remove from heat and let cool.
Take the dough onto the counter and roll it out into a rectangle about a finger thick.
Spread the filling evenly in the middle of the dough and roll it up.
Cut the dough into 3-finger-thick slices or the thickness you desire and place them on a greased baking tray, spaced apart.
Bake in the oven at 175 degrees for 25 minutes. You can serve warm or cold by sprinkling powdered sugar on top.
